Your LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapist, Anne Rochon
Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in trauma healing and identity-affirming care
Hi there, I'm Anne,
I'm genuinely glad you're here.
If you're reading this, you're probably looking for a therapist who truly gets your experience - someone who provides genuine, affirming care and takes a thoughtful approach to healing. I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to feel seen, understood, and celebrated for exactly who they are. Whether you're considering therapy for the first time or seeking a better therapeutic fit, you deserve care that feels both effective and authentically supportive.
Why I Do This Work
My passion for identity-affirming, trauma-informed therapy comes from witnessing how transformative healing can be when it's done with genuine care and proper understanding. I've dedicated my practice to working with adults who are seeking affirming, thorough therapeutic support.
Your identity isn't something to work around in therapy - it's integral to understanding your experience and supporting your healing. Whether you're navigating life transitions, healing from religious trauma, exploring your relationship with your body, or processing difficult experiences, I'm here to support you at your pace.
My Background & Training
I've been providing therapy for over ten years now, with specialized focus on LGBTQ+ and marginalized communities. I earned my Master's in Education from University of Texas at Austin, and I'm licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in Washington State.
My clinical approach is fundamentally client-centered and trauma-informed. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide a safe, supportive environment where your own healing wisdom can emerge. I specialize in EMDR trauma therapy and am also trained in several other therapeutic approaches including:
EMDR
(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
Trained in 2023, I specialize in trauma processing with extensive preparation.
CBT
(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
Trained in 2023, I specialize in trauma processing with extensive preparation.
Expressive Arts Therapeutic Activities
Creative ways to explore and express your experience.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
Integrating awareness and acceptance practices.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Building on your existing strengths and resources
What Makes My Practice Different
I have training and experience with marginalized communities, and continue expanding my understanding of intersectional identity, minority stress, body positivity, and religious trauma recovery. I'm sex-positive and kink-allied, and I maintain ongoing education and consultation to better serve diverse communities.
Most importantly, I take extensive time to build safety before diving into trauma work. If we're doing EMDR together, we'll spend several sessions building your coping skills and establishing trust before any trauma processing begins. As one of my clients shared, "I appreciate we're doing a lot of prep work for EMDR.”
What You Can Expect
Sessions with me feel like genuine conversations with someone who understands your world. I speak clearly without jargon, use appropriate humor when it fits, and create space for all parts of your experience. Through secure virtual sessions, you can access this support from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
As a result of our work together, you can expect to develop an overall greater sense of well-being as you define it, along with an increased ability to decide what's right for you, trust your own decisions, relax and feel empowered in your daily life, and navigate through confusion to clarity in challenging situations.
When I'm not providing virtual therapy, you'll find me exploring the Pacific Northwest and advocating for LGBTQ+ rights in our community. I'm committed to my own therapy and ongoing growth because I believe in practicing what I preach.

How We'll Work Together Our Virtual Therapeutic Process
Sessions feel like genuine conversations with someone who truly understands your world. Through secure virtual sessions, I communicate clearly without clinical jargon, use appropriate humor when it fits, and create space for all parts of your experience—the messy, beautiful, complex parts that make you human.
We start with a free 15-minute virtual consultation where there's no pressure to commit. If we're a good fit, we'll move at your pace through understanding your story, building safety and coping skills (especially important for trauma work), and focusing on your specific goals.
My Safety-First Approach to Trauma Work
If we're working with trauma, I spend several sessions building your emotional safety toolkit before we begin any EMDR processing. You'll learn grounding techniques, develop your support system, and feel completely prepared. As one client shared: "I appreciate we're doing a lot of prep work for EMDR.
