Welcome to the NW Psychotherapy Blog: Healing, Connection & Authentic Care

Hello and welcome!
I’m Anne Rochon, LMHC, founder of NW Psychotherapy, PLLC — a virtual therapy practice offering LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed care across Washington State and British Columbia. My work is grounded in warm, human connection, evidence-based approaches like EMDR, and honoring your whole identity — not just your symptoms.

If you’re curious about therapy, considering support for anxiety, trauma, depression, or navigating a life transition, you may wonder “What is therapy really like?” or “How can I find a therapist who truly understands my experience?” This first post is designed to answer those questions, and to welcome you into a space where healing feels genuinely possible.

Why I Started This Blog

This blog exists for one purpose: to help you find meaningful information, support, and hope as you consider your healing journey.
Future topics will:

  • answer real questions people have about therapy

  • explain therapeutic approaches in clear, compassionate language

  • offer tools you can try on your own

  • help you feel seen and understood before you even step into a session

Because finding a therapist isn’t easy — it’s a vulnerable, big decision.

What You Can Expect From Therapy

If you’re new to therapy or considering going back after a break, here’s what a compassionate, affirming virtual process looks like:

1. Safety & Trust Come First

In trauma-informed care — especially EMDR — we spend intentional time building safety and trust before any deeper work begins. Your comfort and pacing matter.

2. Therapy Is Collaborative

We work together. Your goals shape the process — whether that’s easing anxiety, understanding depression, working through identity-related stress, or navigating a major life shift.

3. Virtual Sessions Are Real Therapy

Telehealth allows you to connect from your own space, on your time, without travel or waiting rooms. Many clients report feeling more grounded and less intimidated than in traditional office settings.

Who This Blog Is For

This space is for you if you are:

  • seeking LGBTQ+ affirming therapy

  • healing from trauma and want a safe, prepared approach

  • navigating anxiety, depression, or transitions

  • curious about therapeutic approaches like EMDR or mindfulness

  • interested in resources that honor your identity

No matter where you are in your journey, you’re welcome here.
